Pickled Onions

This is a great backyard grilling condiment that you wont want to be without!  So many uses!!  Pickling onions takes all the bite out and leaves you with nothing but goodness.  You can top off sandwiches, burgers, tacos, grilled cheese, hotdogs, pulled pork, wraps, salads, pizza, bagels with cream cheese and lox, nachos and not to mention…vodka martinis!

Ingredients
  • 1 medium red onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons Kosher salt
Instructions
  1. Combine the warm water, sugar and salt. Stir to dissolve. Add the vinegar and combine well.
  2. Place sliced onion in a sealable container. (This can be a mason jar with a lid or any tightly sealing storage container)
  3. Pour the liquid over the onions, filling to the top. Seal and let sit for at least a couple of hours. Honestly, the longer they sit, the better they are! They last for weeks! Enjoy!
