Taco seasoning mix is one of the few premixed seasonings that I love and use regularly. It has always been there on my pantry shelf ready to whip up a quick meal at a moments notice. You know… “Cookin’ it Real”. Assuming that its ingredient list would read something like chili powder, cumin, garlic, salt…I never once doubted that my beloved name brand Taco Seasoning mix would do me wrong. Right?
An article that I was reading about all of the preservatives in prepackaged foods peaked my interest. You can’t even imagine the horror when I saw that the number one ingredient in my go to seasoning was corn meal. CORN MEAL!?! That’s not even a spice!! I felt betrayed by my dear old friend. We’ve been together forever.
Well, aside from reaffirming that nothing beats homemade, I guess the moral of this story is…NEVER ASSUME. Because you know what happens… 🙂
